Couch to OpenStack – Vagrant Primer Follow-up

Last night Mr. VMTrooper himself (@VMTrooper) walked us through the basics of Vagrant. That is, we started with nothing, installed Vagrant and VirtualBox. From there we spun up the first VM. The product places a caching appliance on each ESXi host to accelerate reads from NFS datastores. For server virtualization this can be a huge help as usually around 80% of VM

Getting Started with Vagrant & VirtualBox

Part of the pre-work / homework for next weeks “Couch to OpenStack” program is to get a Vagrant environment going on your laptop (or wherever else you choose to run these things). We’re not going to go into the “Why Vagrant” or “What is Vagrant” questions. Those are better answered elsewhere. What follows are the

Unsupported Database after vCenter upgrades

This week I’ve been working on an upgrade project at a small customer. Pretty routine stuff, take a vSphere 5.0 environment and upgrade to vSphere 5.1, having SRM added another step to the upgrade process.  One thing I highly recommend is that you use the vCenter 5.1 Pre-Install Check fling that Alan Renouf has published on the VMware Labs web site. I did run into a supportability issue around SQL Express.
