It is always nice to welcome new sponsors and I am delighted that Pivot3 has chosen to support the vBrownBag TechTalks at VMworld EMEA. Pivot3 is a hyperconverged vendor with some very interesting policy based management, including storage QoS. While I’m talking about TechTalks, you can find all of the VMworld USA 2017 TechTalks in this[…]
Build Day number two is in the can, we had a great week in Silicon Valley with Pure Storage. We initially thought we wouldn’t have enough content for a Build Day with Pure. The array deployment is a 30-minute task, and from there it is simple to operate. Happily, we realized that we could show more than day 1, we could show a lot of the day two operations. We got to see some radical simplicity in the management of the Flash Array and did a whole lot of lifecycle operations on the array. You can see the live part of the build day in this video, and all of the Pure Storage build day videos in this playlist.
The vBrownBag Build day is happening again this month (20 July 2017) with Pure Storage as our hosts. We will be bringing a new vSphere cluster to silicon valley and migrating a bunch of VMs onto a nice All-Flash-Array. The plan is to have a couple of heavy workloads that are constrained by the existing[…]
I just sent the session acceptance for the hundred vBrownBag TechTalk sessions that are in the schedule for VMworld 2017. I am expecting that we will have the busiest VMworld ever for vBrownBag. The US schedule is packed, with a wait list of half a dozen sessions. The EMEA schedule does have space for more[…]
Time is nearly up for initial submissions for vBrownBag TechTalks at VMworld. On Friday night (June 30th), we will be taking the initial submissions and putting together the schedule for the TechTalks. Right now, it looks like we will have a full schedule for VMworld USA and room for a few more sessions in Barcelona.[…]
vBrownBag TechTalks are back for a sixth year at VMworld US and EMEA. After a little drama along the way, I am confident that these will be the best vBrownBag TechTalk we have had at VMworld. Two great changes for us, the TechTalks will be in Schedule Builder and we will be reaching out to[…]
It was our first time making vBrownBag video at Dell/EMC World, despite having so many friends at both companies. We had an interesting mix of community presentations and people from inside Dell/EMC. Two interesting presentations were by Dell/EMC fellows, Radia Perlman and Steve Todd, these are people valued for thinking about the future of IT.[…]
This guest post is by Ryan of VIRTUBYTES where you can find his back catalog of posts. Ryan writes about VMware products and a lot of related infrastructure technologies.
A few weeks back, we discussed Zerto’s ability to perform point-in-time file level restores directly from the replication journal. However, what if the data you need from 30 minutes ago isn’t readily compiled into a file or requires manual intervention to produce; such as a database backup or a PST export of Exchange mailbox items? Introducing Zerto Failover Tests for data recovery.
