I have slacked on this post quite a bit, but alas an exam report is due.
Exam: VCP-410
Status: Passed
I was/am a present holder of a VCP3, and before 12/31 was allowed to upgrade without having to take an additional course. That said, there are now several valuable courses from VMware that qualify. Basically, for those that complain having to take the Install & Config class as a requirement, there are now some great classes you can use in it’s stead to bolster your VMware knowledge. The new classes:
- VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage,
- VMware vSphere: Fast Track
- VMware vSphere: Troubleshooting course
So, onto passing the test, I took the test more or less cold turkey after having worked with vSphere for a while, but honestly, would not recommend that approach, it was more difficult by far than the VCP3. Some of the resources I did use are:
- My own VCP resource page
- Simon Long’s Practice test’s
- VMware Communities Podcasts (While not directly test related, these were invaluable)
- The VMware VCP4 Blueprint (Yes you will need to know a little bit of everything on it)
- The VMware vSphere Docs
What’s on the test? Wouldn’t you like to know. As part of the exam agreement I can’t quite share that information. However, I can say that I did have a little of everything that was covered on the blueprint, and that knowing the maximums will not be enough this time around.
Questions? Comments? Drop us a line.
Congratulations !!
Me too, I passed the VCP 4 recently… I also put a VCP page on my website: http://www.vladan.fr/vcp
Good page! Thanks for linking it.
I agree. It was definitely harder than VCP310 test.
