Burnout seems to be a part of IT life, but does it need to be? We have seen a lot more people talking about stress and burnout this year and I think this is a really important topic. This year the vBrownBag crew will be part of several efforts to help you, or people around you, beat IT burnout.
The first stage is the Beating IT Burnout panel at Opening Acts on Sunday. I will moderate the panel which will have a combination of people who work in IT and know the burnout and people who know how to help you handle the stresses and minimize the burnout.
During the week of VMworld, the vBrownBag crew will have a bunch of cards with strategies to help you, there are nine cards to collect each with a different tip to improve your day or life at work. You can find the cards at the vBrownBag stage, where the TechTalks are running in the VMvillage, or find them here on our Beating IT Burnout landing page.
Finally, we are also supporting Alicia Preston and Kat Troyer to run a mindfulness workshop on Wednesday (29th August), this is a great way to get a break from the chaos of VMworld and come away with a new approach to your life. Places are very limited (12 workshop participants only) so do be very sure that you can take time out from VMworld before you register using this link.
As a closing thought, remember to check in with your friends and let them know you are around for them. It will improve your day as well as theirs and might make a big difference.
