Managing VI with PowerShell Presentation – What Do You Want To See?

Since y’all voted me and Pancil into the Virtualization Congress. I figure y’all should have some input into the presentation. Keep in mind, we’ll not just be covering managing VMware VI with PowerShell, but we’ll also cover managing Xen & Hyper-V too. Anything general? Anything specific? A particular use case you’d like to see?

Leave it in the comments or hit me up on Twitter.

So far we’ve got:

  • Deploy some VM’s (lots of them)
  • Configure said VM’s (memory, vcpu’s, etc)
  • Manage said VM’s (snapshots, clones, etc)
  • Report on said VM’s & VI (Free disk, cpu use, chicken counter, etc)

Make this about you, let me know what you want to see!

  • For the 1st two items you've got there (provision & configure), I'd love to see it pull that information from a CSV (or XLS) file. I know how to do it with PoSh & VI but have never attempted to with XenServer or Hyper-V. Should be an interesting session – looking forward to it. 🙂

  • Yeah exactly. 🙂

It would be interesting to see the differences in the capabilities of the APIs exposed between the 3 different hypervisors and who has the “prettier” solution.
