VMworld 2011 Public Voting Now Open

In case you haven’t heard, the Public Voting for VMworld 2011 sessions is now open, and you can go forth and cast your votes here.

My sessions:

I am super excited to have had a few sessions make it past the first stage, but none more so than these:

Come meet Cody Bunch, author of the forth coming “Automating vSphere with vCenter Orchestrator” as we talk about VMware’s best kept secret: vCenter Orchestrator. We will begin with a basic description of vCO. We will then dive into a use-case based approach of showing folks how to apply vCO workflows to their vSphere environment, helping them achieve the dream that is private cloud.

Join the brown bag trainer himself Cody Bunch and Co-Author or the PowerCLI reference Glenn Sizemore for this crash course in using PowerCLI. After a brief introduction to PowerShell itself we will dive into the fundamentals of administering your virtual environment from within PowerCLI. Learn how to managing VM, Hosts, and Storage using the PowerCLI cmdlets. After this session you will be well on your way to thriving in the console less world.

Come witness a Storage vendor slug fest as we bring heavy hitters from each of the major storage vendors to the stage. This session will be a highly interactive “Smackdown” in which the audience will be able to ask directed questions to the storage vendors and let them duke out the answers.

Automation is key to achieve agility and scalability in cloud environments. vCenter Orchestrator enables this through assembling workflows that capture best practices followed by cloud administrators. This session aims to provide these administrators the best practices for developing and running vCenter Orchestrator workflows.

The process of becoming Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant for most organizations is laborious and requires acute attention to configuration detail. Though PCI DSS 2.0 introduces a Virtualization Supplement which provides a compelling use case to expand your virtualization footprint with industry standard validation of architecture and design, organizations still require the proper tools to monitor and enforce the guidelines. Learn how to strengthen your application and data security, improve visibility and control and accelerate IT compliance efforts across the entire organization with virtualization-aware protection for virtual datacenters and cloud environments.

Summary

There are LOTS of good sessions this year, so I encourage you to filter the list into your areas of interest and to read a bit beyond the titles. Most importantly, let VMware know which sessions you’d like to see.
